Emphasys provides an array of software solutions and related services to public housing authorities (PHAs) and housing finance agencies (HFAs). It was formed in 2000, as the result of a merger between the nation’s two leading vendors of housing software: Creative Computer Solutions, founded in 1976, and Memory Lane Systems, founded in 1983. In May 2004, Emphasys also acquired Application Oriented Designs, Inc., the nation's leading provider of software and services for HFAs.
Today Emphasys is the largest full-service provider to serve the public housing, housing finance, and redevelopment marketplace. ETL / Database Programmer: Entry Level or Experienced |

The ETL/Database Programmer will work with peers in the Technical Solutions department to ensure that our approach to data cleansing and data migration of legacy systems is both optimized and automated. He or she will be an experienced ETL programmer and will work with both local and dispersed teammates. The clients that this programmer will work with will be remotely located in any of the fifty states. Migrating clients from legacy systems will require interfacing with legacy programmers, while working on new clients will mean analyzing their existing systems and creating additional tools to migrate their data, if none already exist. The person in this role will participate in projects where they need to analyze business requirements, develop new data migration/cleansing solutions, perform testing, and present findings and recommendations to fellow team members and end users. This position reports to the Technical Solutions Manager and has the following principle accountabilities:
Interviews business users to create and/or understand migration or clean up requirements.
Understand Logical & Physical Data Models, Enterprise Data Dictionary, and Metadata Layer.
Ensures Consistency across Implementations (Data Cleansing, Data Integrity, and Data Quality).
Acts as Enterprise Consultant and Data/Database SME.
Understands New Releases and Migration Impacts.
Review and prepares Mapping Documents.
Required Skills
Must be able to exploit any known toolsets, and/or create your own to provide fast solutions to accelerate data migrations or other client issues.
Entry Level
- Experience with SQL and ETL
- Experience with Windows and SQL Server
- Good communication skills
Experienced
- 5+ years experience in database development
- 2+ years experience in Entity-Relationship modeling and/or UML, and CASE tools
- Strong SQL Server DBA/development experience
- Good communication skills
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) or similar. |
